Newton resident to cycle for sustainability causes

Dan Bakal, of Newton, will participate in the Climate Ride in September. For nearly 19 years, Bakal has worked for the Boston-based nonprofit Ceres to help address major sustainability challenges like climate change.

After turning 50 in June, Bakal decided to attempt to repeat the 380-mile Climate Ride Northeast from Bar Harbor, Maine to Boston, a journey he completed in 2015. Bakal will be among up to 100 cyclists making the five-day trip down the New England coast to raise awareness of climate change and funds for programs designed to help the environment.
